However, it’s crucial to keep in mind that cultural norms and practices can vary widely in Iraq. To ensure a safe and respectful experience, it’s advisable for female travelers to be mindful of the local dress code and make an effort to understand the cultural norms of the region they plan to visit. Who can get visa on arrival in Iraq ?

If you are from these 39 countries you can get the visa sticker at the airports
(Baghdad Airport, Basra Airport and Najaf Airport) and also by land at the borders

Do credit cards work in Iraq ?

Yes, credit cards are generally accepted in Iraq, and many tourists within our Facebook group, Iraqi Travellers Cafe, have reported that they were able to withdraw money from ATMs without significant issues. However, it’s important to be aware that some banks in Iraq may charge relatively high fees, ranging from 10% to 20%, for credit card transactions. Additionally, these banks often use the official government exchange rate, which can be up to 20% less favorable than the rates offered at public currency exchange shops. Interestingly, several tourists have mentioned that ‘Iraq Trade Bank’ is an exception, as it does not impose fees for ATM withdrawals.

Can unmarried couples stay in hotels in Iraq ?

If both of you are foreigners, then it is permissible. If one is Iraqi, then no.

Can I find vegetarian foods in Iraq ?

Yes, you can definitely find vegetarian food options in Iraq. The vegetarian food culture is on the rise, and nowadays, many restaurants and grocery shops offer a variety of vegetarian products and dishes. If you happen to visit a restaurant and don’t see vegetarian options listed on the main menu, we recommend checking the appetizers section. In many cases, approximately 90% of the appetizers served are vegetarian

Is tipping expected in Iraq ?
